U.S. Senate

Both seats have an election this year. In the regularly scheduled one, incumbent Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D) is favored to win a 3rd term. There is also a special election to complete the term of former Sen. Al Franken, who resigned in January. Appointed incumbent Sen. Tina Smith (D) has led most polls, but by nowhere near the margin of Klobuchar. This seat will have an election for a full six-year term in 2020.

U.S. House

8 Congressional Districts: 5 Democrats | 3 Republicans

Highly Competitive: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th
In 2016, there were only four districts in the entire country that gave Trump a double-digit margin over Clinton while electing a Democrat to Congress. Three of them are in Minnesota, including the highly competitive 1st and 8th.  The open 8th district, in the state's Iron Range, represents one of the better GOP pick-up opportunities nationwide.

Others to Watch:
 7th
This is the state's third district in the aforementioned GOP-Clinton category. In fact, it voted for Trump by an astonishing 30%. Despite that, 14-term Rep. Collin Peterson is favored to win re-election.
